Tasks
The Centre is responsible, in particular, for:
- organising statistical surveys in the fields of research and development (R&D), innovation, the information society (including use of information and communication technologies (ICT) by enterprises, households, individuals, and public administration), as well as biotechnology and nanotechnology.
- Developing methodological solutions, modifying existing ones, and introducing new surveys in the field of science, technology, innovation, and information society statistics.
- Identifying new sources and methods of data collection aimed at improving and expanding statistical surveys within the Centre’s area of responsibility;
- conducting analyses and assessments of developments in the fields of science, technology, innovation, the information society and telecommunications;
- Actively cooperating with the scientific community to advance and expand statistical research in the relevant domains.
- cooperating with institutions and organisations responsible for the development and implementation of policies within the scope of the Centre’s statistical surveys, in particular with government and local government authorities, in order to identify and meet information needs as well as to support the further development of statistical surveys;
- Cooperating with the European Statistical System, statistical offices of other countries, and international organisations, including participation in the development of statistical systems compliant with European Union requirements;
- preparing up-to-date statistical publications and analytical reports on the Centre’s areas of responsibility, including comparative analyses of Polish and European Union statistics;
- promoting science, technology, innovation, information society and telecommunications statistics, through active participation in scientific conferences and other professional events.
