Data Engineering Centre
The Centre is responsible for initiating and carrying out the design, development and implementation of IT systems for statistical surveys and databases, based on innovative software solutions, in cooperation with the relevant units of the Statistical Office and other units of official statistics’ authorities.
In particular, the Centre is responsible for:
- identifying and analysing opportunities for using new technologies and alternative data sources;
conducting development activity in the field of data transformation and integration processes involving data from various sources; - improving processes of producing statistical data in the area of specialization, in cooperation with the Centre of Non-Financial Enterprises Results and Foreign Trade;
- automation of data ingestion and developing relational and multidimensional structures for statistical data warehouses and databases, linked to the statistical metadata system;
- cooperating with other centres in the calculation and compilation of data for publications and the fulfilment of data requests;
- conducting, in cooperation with the Department of Non-Financial Enterprises and Foreign Trade Results, programming work on creating and maintaining statistical IT systems;
- administering the database and hardware infrastructure used in the current operations of the Centre;
- cooperating with the Centre for Communication Tools Development regarding the design and implementation of innovations within the Office.
